| VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FOOTBALL PARENTS. PEASE READ..... |
MYFL recently passed a new rule stating that all football players must present a DMV ID card as the accepted form of proof of age for your child beginning with the 2010 season. This is required for ALL football players, even if your child played and was approved last year!!!! This new rule does not apply to cheerleaders. A copy of the birth certificate is still acceptable for new cheerleaders. The DMV ID card costs $10.00 and is valid for 3 years. You will need to apply in person with your child at any DMV customer service center. They will need a valid identity document such as a birth certificate or passport. Once the application process is complete they will mail out the ID card within 3 weeks. For more information you can go to the DMV website: www.dmv.state.va.us. We will have to collect the cards by the end of the first week of practice so PLEASE GET YOUR CARDS EARLY SO AS NOT TO JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHILD'S ABILITY TO PLAY IN THE FIRST GAME. ALL players must present the DMV ID card at EVERY check in for the season, which means they MUST bring their ID cards every Saturday. The board is trying to make this process as easy as possible for parents and players and will have more information on possible procedures we will put in place to ensure that this transition goes smoothly for all of us during this initial season. If you have any questions about the Metro Policy please e-mail Russ Johnson at RUSSJ4478@aol.com or Renee Bull at MSTORO23@yahoo.com

Game jerseys will not be handed out at this time.
Parents…Important….PLEASE TAKE NOTE!! There will be no equipment handouts for any football players on Monday, August 9th, Tuesday, August 10th or Wednesday, August 11th. In years past, we’ve had too many players wait until the first week of practice to get their equipment which tied up board members and disrupted important conditioning practices. Please try to make either your team’s equipment handout date or the makeup date on Sunday, August 8th. If you absolutely can not make those dates then we will hand out equipment for those remaining players on Thursday the 12th and Friday the 13th before and after practice.
NOTE: If you need a helmet for the UR football camp in July, we can provide you with one. Please e-mail Dave Bull at toro7587@yahoo.com.

We have a great example of one of our players in action up at the hut if you would like to see what they look like or go to www.wallamericans.com to see other examples. Prices range from $89.00 - $139.00. Information sheets are available online at www.wallamericans.comor at the hut during practices or games.

EXCLUSIVE “HALL OF FAMERS” AUDIO SETS NOW ON SALE!!
For all of you Redskins Fans, or for that matter, for any football fan… Don Newberry, former coach and sportscaster in the 1970’s has preserved and captured some amazing and historic interviews from that time period on a 3 Audio CD set now available for you to purchase for a limited time only. These CDs’s are a treasured football and Redskins time capsule with such voices as Tom Landry, George Allen, Don Shula, John Madden, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, John Riggins and many more. These CDs are now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and you can purchase them for yourself and future generations so that these voices will live on forever! Remember there was no ESPN or All-Sports radio back then and most radio stations erased their on-air sound, so these CDs contain interviews, post game conferences, some wonderful speeches and some actual on air programs from that time period that would never be heard again, but for these audio CDs.
For those of you who are new to Kanawha, Don Newbery has been a supportive Kanawha Redskins fan for several years and has enjoyed coming out to our games on Saturdays over the years to watch his grandson Don Papa, who is currently on the Midget Varsity team. Several years ago he discovered his old audio tapes from his hundreds of interviews back in the late 60’ and 70’s in the attic of his home and has catalogued and converted these historical documentaries to CDs to preserve these amazing sports stories. He is making these CDs available to us for only $15.00, and a portion of the proceeds will be given back to Kanawha. Order forms are available up at the hut or contact Kim Spencer at kspen01@aol.com to get an order form. Be sure and order a set for yourself and one for your friends or family. It’s something you will treasure for a long time to come.
WEATHER POLICY
If there is inclement weather during the day, or the night before, of a scheduled practice, Henrico County will make a decision on whether or not to close our fields. This decision is usually made by 3:00 p.m. Once they make a decision, we will put any cancellations on the hotline (360-8633). If bad weather occurs after 3:00 p.m., the decision on whether to close the fields is at our discretion. If the hotline has not been updated by 5:30, assume practice is on. If bad weather occurs after 5:30 and we have to make a last minute decision, we will have a board member in the parking lot advising you that practice is cancelled. During practice, if lightening is in the area, we will have the kids leave the field and ask them to stay in their parent's cars for a period of time undtil we advise as to what the status of the remainder of practice will be. There should be an adult in charge of your child during practice at all times for this reason as well as for safety reasons.
