Game 8 - Kanawha Redskins VS Goochland Bulldogs

The last game of the season was wet, cold and muddy. The team was all here and ready. The Redskins had control over the Bulldogs for the entire game. The first half had great stops by #24 Gavin Toomey, #21 Nesiah James and #8 Julius Jackson with several each. The offense had possession of the ball for a good amount of the time, leaving the bulldogs with little time to score. The first play started with #8 Julius Jackson and followed with #21 Nesiah James and #3 Parker West. Then the ball given to Julius with a short gain, pass incomplete and Quinton with a run. Next the ball given to Nesiah for a Redskin first down, Julius next with a first down and Nesiah for a Redskin Touchdown. The defense held the Bulldogs and our offense team was back out. The next and I quote “First time the play worked ever”, Nesiah runs in for another Redskin Touchdown. Final play before half, #58 Colby Hughes with the run and #82 Michael Aleska with a Great catch and long gain, but was called back due to a Redskin penalty.

The second half belonged to the Skins. The Skins had the ball and Parker West starts the play. Who could not forget the 70 yard Touchdown by Nesiah James; the score now 20 -0. At this time the “Mercy Rule” was used and several of our players had to sit out The offense had one final attempt; Colby, Julius and Sam Hutchinson made a great attempt, but no score. The defense had several stops by #66 Tyrone Davis and #1 Jack Bundy with two great pulls. The game ended with another REDSKIN VICTORY and shut out. Final score Goochland 0 Redskins 20. Now we wait to see who are next and final “Season Bowl” game will be with.

Game 7 - Kanawha Redskins VS Glen Allen Ravens

The day started out cold and wet but by game time the sun started to peek out. The Boys were eager to start and try to keep their perfect record. The Ravens however had something to prove, it was Homecoming for them. The Skins started with the ball and had a few good runs but the Ravens were able to stop us from scoring. The Redskins defense had their work cut out for them. The Ravens offensive line had size over us and it showed. We had some great stops by # 72 Alex, #21 Nesiah, and # 3 Parker; however the Ravens were able to score the first touchdown. With the leadership of our Coaches (great job) the offense had some big runs by #2 Quinton and #21 Nesiah with a run into the end zone. Now bringing the score Skins 6 Ravens 7. Before half our defensive line was back out and ready to defend. One last great stop by #12 Chase Shulleeta and others to end the half.

In the second half the Redskins team was feeling the heat. This was anyone's game and the defensive line had stops made by #21 Nesiah, #8 Julius, # 2 Quinton, #66 Tyron and #23 Sam. The Skins offensive line would not give up, with plays by #8 Julius, #3 Parker, with a run to the 10 yard line by #2 Quinton and #24 Nazeer with the first down, but no score. The last few minutes of the game the Ravens scored their 2nd touchdown with the extra point. The score now Redskins 6 Ravens 13. With one minute left in the game the Redskins came out hoping to tie the game. Unfortunately, the game ended with the Skins first and only loss. It was a great game and both the Redskins and the Ravens played hard. Look out Goochland here we come !!

Our defense went out and had some great plays by Jack Bundy, Julius Jackson, Tyrone Davis and Chase Shulleeta, just to name a few. The Skins regained the ball and what a great run (61 yards) by Quinton Hawkins for a Redskin touchdown. The defense again was able to stop the Tomahawks from scoring in the first half; thanks to some stops by Reese Plotkin, Jack Bundy, Tyrone Davis, Nesiah James and Sam Trotman.

Second half and the Redskins defense came out with a stop by Chase Shulleeta and a pass interference by Julius Jackson, and again no score from Tuckahoe. Our offense again proved to be on top. Our defense team had some great stops by Korin Ezell, Quinton Hawkins, Reese Plotkin and Tyrone Davis; which kept the Tomahawks from scoring in the second half. Next, Sam Hutchinson with a 2nd down and Julius with a long run into the end zone bringing the score 8-6. Sam Hutchinson with the extra 2 points and the game is now tied, 8-8. It was again the defense's turn, with Reese Plotkin for a stop keeping the Jets from moving up field and a great attempt by Nesiah James, who almost intercepted the ball. The Skins had the ball and several good runs by Nesiah and Quinton Hawkins, but the Jets were able to stop us. The game was not over, by 4th quarter the fans were cheering on the Skins. Our defense was unstoppable, with some great stops by Tyrone, Alex Castanien, and Quinton with also a block. Just 1 minute and 41 seconds left in the game, hoping for a Skins score or we would go into OT. The ball is snapped, and Nesiah with a run to the 30 yard line. Quinton gets the ball and runs for a touchdown, but then called back due to a Skins penalty. Nesiah runs for a short gain and Quinton brings it home for a REDSKINS touchdown, extra point no good.
