WHO IS THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR KANAWHA?

Tank Christmas is heading into his 5th year with Kanawha, and his impact has grown every season. After joining the organization, he quickly stepped into coaching during his second year as has since taken on the role of Athletic Director. With a lifelong background in football, starting all the way back in little league, Tank brings valuable knowledge, leadership, and experience to our program.

He is always available for any questions you may have and is the go-to person for anyone interested in coaching. We're grateful to have his dedication and passion guiding our RedHawks!

WHO WILL BE COACHING MY KIDS?:

All teams are led by qualified and experienced coaches, whose mission is to make this a positive, fun filled experience for your child.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER MY CHILD FOR FOOTBALL?

To register your child in the Kanawha Football program the cost is:

Flag Football: $100

8U/10U/12U Football: $200

WHAT TEAMS DO WE PLAY?

The Kanawha Youth Football and Cheerleading Association is a member of the Metro Youth Football League(MYFL).
We play games on Saturdays starting in August throughout November against the other teams in the MYFL.

HOW MANY GAMES WILL WE PLAY?:

There are 8 regular season games, 4 home and 4 away.
All teams are eligible post season play depending on their record.
Teams will practice at Short Pump Park and will play their home games there.

WHEN WILL WE PRACTICE?: 

Football Practice Starts Monday, July 27th:
Before School Starts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (6-8pm)
After School Starts: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (6-7:30pm)

IF IT RAINS, WILL THERE BE PRACTICE AND/OR GAMES? 

Football games will continue as scheduled in the rain. However, if the county closes the field, we will notify all families through TeamSnap. Our Athletic Director or President will communicate any delays, changes or cancellations due to weather. Please keep an eye on your TeamSnap alerts for the most up-to-date information.

CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF AT PRACTICE OR GAMES?

Parents must be at all practices and games; you may not leave your child alone. This is in case of injury or any changes in weather. NO EXCEPTIONS!

What do I need to be considered FULLY REGISTERED?

  1. Registered Via Team Snap
  2. Paid in FULL by July 31st
  3. A SIGNED CODE OF CONDUCT (Please Print, Read (Parent and Child) and Sign (Parent and Child) . Finished Code of Conduct can either UPLOADED either during Registration or directly into your Team Snap Bio OR Brought to Equipment or Uniform Handout)
  4. Football Players ONLY: Virginia DMV Child's  ID  (Click Here)

What to Wear

WHAT ARE WE EXPECTED TO WEAR?

Football:
The first week of practice is a conditioning week.
Players will be in their shorts and t-shirts for conditioning. Players should also wear their football cleats to begin breaking them in.
Over the next two weeks, players will gradually go into helmets, shoulder pads, and finally, fully padded gear.

Football Players:
Kanawha provides the following: helmet (soft helmet for flag players), guardian cap, practice jersey, and game jersey. PLAYERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING: Shoulder pads (except flag players), cleats, Integrated football pants, a mouth piece, and socks.
